Don’t let Google tell you how to lead your teams.
Contrary to popular belief, being young and being a leader aren’t mutually exclusive.
I’m Tamara Thorpe, the Millennials Mentor, and let me just give it to you straight: I’m not your typical, old-school consultant. I specialize in providing leadership training and organizational development consulting to Millennials – professionals in the 9-5 sphere and entrepreneurs doing their own thing – and the startups and businesses you run.
I work with a lot of Millennials and I get it: You’re in a unique place, generationally and professionally speaking. You’re insanely talented, driven and motivated – but the job market didn’t exactly welcome you with open arms. A shifting workplace, a recession and lots of other factors came into play to make landing your first “real job” a total pain in the you-know-what.
So, you likely had one of two things happen:
If you were able to land a “regular” corporate job, your incredible drive might have meant that you found yourself in a position of power quickly.
And if not? You said screw it and set out to blaze your own path by doing your own thing – maybe launching a tech startup or non-profit (after taking a year off to backpack around Europe, of course).
Either way, one thing’s for damn sure: You’ve got vision. But sometimes? You feel uncertain about your direction. Because with a lot of power and success, comes a lot of responsibilities.
And sure, you’ve got friends to turn to. And maybe a mentor (although you use the term loosely). And of course, your BFF the Internet – on your iPhone, and iPad…and MacBook. But when you Google vague stuff like “leadership,” you know what happens? You might get some information, or a few quick tips and tools – but what all the blogs, vlogs and most well-written articles can’t tell you is how those tools filter into the big picture – the legacy – of your unique business and career.
That’s where I step in.
With over 20 years of experience helping young people like you develop stellar leadership skills, I’m like a (powerful-yet-sustainable) jetpack for your biz. I’m no Google, but what I am is a real, live human being who’s armed with an arsenal of knowledge you need to succeed – and who wants to share it with you.
Together, you got this.

I Coach
If you are:
: A fresh college grad who feels disillusioned and disappointed about the future (because hell – nobody will even give you a callback, let alone a job offer)
: Slaving away at a job you hate just for the paycheck
: Living back home (or with roommates) to get by (and the future you crave seems way out of reach now)
: Overworked, overwhelmed and losing passion for your current career trajectory, not to mention your life
I can help you turn the intimidating act of “following your passion” into a fun challenge. Any job can become your dream job, when you know what the hell you want and where you can make the most impact.
I Consult
Look, every leader has made mistakes, had major doubts and at some point literally had no idea what to do next. But what sets great leaders apart is their commitment to a purpose, their drive to succeed and perhaps most importantly, their willingness to learn.
Whether you feel like your biz exploded overnight or you moved up the ladder quickly, odds are you feel like you’ve suddenly come face-to-face with issues, decisions and problems outside your leadership capabilities.
Yeah, you might be the boss, but that doesn’t make you an instant know-it-all. The truth is a lot of what you do everyday is totally new to you.
How should you know how to manage an employee who can’t seem to get their work in on time or run productive meetings on the regular (that don’t cut into everyone’s lunch hour and actually get stuff done)? How should you know how to bset resolve conflict between squabbling employees, or make sure everybody stays inspired, lit up and excited to come to work?
Good news: You don’t have to know already. You just have to be willing to learn. And me? I’m ready to teach.
I Speak
I might love to listen, but I also love to talk. Especially about all things leadership, personal success, mentoring and generational and cultural understanding.
I’ve shared my life experiences with Millennials all over the world – from Brazil to Canada, France to Northern Ireland and across the U.S., too.
I love motivating Millennials with smart, savvy and no-fluff advice, and asking insightful questions and facilitating answers from the crowd.
Fair warning: I’ve been known to make an audience both laugh and cry – in the same presentation.
Could your audience be my next stop?
