The Value of a Handwritten Note

October 12, 2012 by Tamara Leave a Comment

The other day I received a letter in the mail from a friend sharing her traveling adventures with me. I was reminded just how much I appreciate getting mail. Not only is it really nice when someone takes the time to hand write a note or letter, but it is also a great mechanism for relationship building. It may be faster and more convenient to send an email, but it does not have the same impact or value. Taking the time to write a note or  a letter has a lot more meaning for the recipient. It demonstrates an effort and thoughtfulness for the recipient that an email just doesn’t. So after the next job interview, when you get a gift, or you just want to say “Thank You”, sit down and write a note, put it in an addressed and stamped envelope and mail it. It will make a lasting impression that is well worth the effort.
